In response to the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria, Generali is supporting the people impacted with a donation to UNICEF and other local programmes as well as a global fundraising campaign with donations matched by Generali
The most powerful earthquake recorded in Turkey since 1939, along with harsh weather conditions and an on-going cholera outbreak, has heavily impacted millions of people in Turkey and Syria who are now dependent on humanitarian assistance.
In response to this disaster, Generali has decided to donate EUR 500,000 to UNICEF, which is currently assisting the rescue efforts with emergency items including food, clean water, family and baby hygiene kits, clothing, emergency medical supplies and safe spaces (shelter for families and children with childcare services). It will also assist local programmes to be selected in coordination with Generali Sigorta.
In addition a global fundraising campaign is under way, and donations for emergency support in the impacted areas will be matched 1:1 by Generali.
Moreover, at the local level Generali Sigorta has launched an employee donation campaign to support local organisations for first aid emergency and will also match the funds raised.
