Sustainability
Responsible investor.
As a responsible investor, we have a direct impact on the protection of the environment and human rights. Generali is aware of their responsibility and signed the United Nations' Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI) in 2011.
We introduced the Group-wide Responsible Investment Guidelines in 2015 and have recently updated them to include sustainability to better control environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks in our investment processes and make a positive impact through engagement with our investees.
Another key starting point for a responsible investment strategy is investment in sustainable real estate, where we take the ESG criteria into account in our investment as well as divestment decision process. In addition, all Generali properties in Switzerland are reviewed for their overall energy efficiency and results are compared on an annual basis. The energy efficiency of most buildings has already been or is being optimised. We will continue investing to achieve further improvements in the future.
