Our music workshop tour kicked off in Fribourg and Brig on 20 and 21 July. In the morning, the children were playfully introduced to the concepts of “bands”, “song writing” and “rhythm/percussion” and were able to try out a few instruments themselves. The focus was not on reading music, but on direct, haptic and sensual contact with the tones, rhythms and melodies that can be elicited from an instrument. In the afternoon, our musical mentor Stefanie Heinzmann worked together with 30 children on the production of our “Lion Kids” song “Our time is coming”.
The music workshops being held throughout Switzerland are the core element of the “Lion Kids by Generali and SMA” music promotion programme. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 can access music in an informal setting and let off steam musically.
It was two unforgettable days with lots of beaming faces and smiles all round.
