Tadesse Abraham

Tadesse Abraham is brand ambassador of Generali Switzerland.

We are delighted that Tadesse Abraham, the fastest marathon runner in Switzerland, has been active as our brand ambassador since 2018. We are both guided by the same principle: Whatever moves you. Run for it!

Tadesse was European Half Marathon Champion in 2016 and finished seventh for Switzerland at the Olympic Games in Rio. He won silver in the marathon at the 2018 European Championships in Berlin and took ninth place in the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha.

Along with his many successes, his story bears out how sport can promote integration. Born in rural Eritrea, 38-year-old Tadesse started running for a better life early on. He ran for a piece of bread as a child, for shoes as an up-and-coming runner and for his future as a refugee. Today he devotes an increasing amount of his time to running for the lives of others – most recently in partnership with Generali Switzerland.

We've joined forces with Tadesse and The Human Safety Net Switzerland Foundation, an organisation powered by Generali Switzerland, to launch a running project: the THSN Refugee Team. Our main aim in setting up this running team is to facilitate integration through sport for each and every individual. At the same time, we've planned a variety of activities to support all those hoping to build a professional running career.

We're delighted that, together, we can encourage our customers, employees, sports enthusiasts and people with a refugee or migrant background to make their move and go running. We want to motivate them to lead a healthy and active life.
