Adliswil – Generali Switzerland has completed its Executive Board. Anne-France Epelbaum (52), previously Claims Operations Director, will take over as Chief Human Resources and Organisation Officer with effect from 1 February 2023. She will succeed Jean-Pierre Schmid, who stepped into the post of Chief Human Resources Officer at Generali Germany as a member of the Executive Board on 1 January 2023. Jean-Pierre Schmid is also responsible for the Human Resources Department in the Management Board of the Generali Group’s new DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) Region. The appointment of Anne-France Epelbaum was approved today, 26 January 2023, by the Board of Directors, chaired by Giovanni Liverani.

Christoph Schmallenbach (Country Manager and CEO of Generali Switzerland) commented: “AnneFrance Epelbaum is a capable colleague of long standing, and we are delighted that she is taking on the role of Chief Human Resources and Organisation Officer. She is the perfect person for the job thanks to her indepth understanding of the insurance industry, and looking ahead to our transformation too. As someone who was born in Ticino, grew up in Geneva and has lived in German-speaking Switzerland for many years, she is also familiar with the subtle differences between the regions and can respond to the corresponding needs. I am looking forward to working together with Ms Epelbaum.”

Anne-France Epelbaum has worked for Generali Switzerland for more than 25 years. She started her career as a lawyer working in Generali’s Legal Services Department in Geneva, before assuming the position of Head of Claims Quality Management (Non-Life) in Adliswil in 2000. She was then appointed Head of Quality Management (Non-Life) and – for about two years now – she has been Claims Operations Director (Customer Services). In this role, she has implemented an efficient, customer-focused business model with high service and quality standards.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity as part of Generali Switzerland’s Executive Board to help drive forward the transformation that has been initiated, to bring our colleagues along with us on this journey and to help shape Generali Switzerland’s future,” remarked Anne-France Epelbaum. “As a client of Human Resources, I know a great deal about the business requirements and therefore exactly what adjustments to make to provide customer-focused HR services.”

At the same time, Jean-Pierre Schmid’s new role as Chief Human Resources Officer at Generali Germany marks the end of an era. He worked for Generali Switzerland for 27 years. Christoph Schmallenbach (Country Manager) said: “I would like to thank Jean-Pierre for his many years of very successful service, his passion and his outstanding commitment to Generali Switzerland. I wish him all the best and every success in his new role at Generali Germany and on the DACH Management Board, and look forward to continuing to work with him within the DACH organisation.”

With effect from 1 February 2023, Generali Switzerland’s Executive Board will be composed of the following seven members: Christoph Schmallenbach (CEO), Alessio Sarti (CFO), Ralph Schmid (Chief Insurance Officer), Sepp Ruchti (Chief Distribution Officer), Andreas Schlögl (Chief Transformation and Operation Officer), Philipp Keller (Chief Risk Officer), Anne-France Epelbaum (Chief Human Resources and Organisation Officer).
