Would you like to adjust your premium? That’s possible too. If you are unable or unwilling to pay the agreed premium, we will reduce it after consulting with you. Important to know: the benefit you receive at the end of your life insurance term or in the event of death will be adjusted accordingly. Easily adjust your premiums online – simply use our online services.
Alternatively, you can request a suspension. This means that for a certain period you do not pay premiums. Depending on the contract, the suspension can last up to two years. Good to know: your insurance cover remains active during the suspension. Use our online services to submit a request and easily pause your premiums.
You can also stop paying the premiums. This means you will no longer have to make any premium payments. Your policy will remain in force, but with a reduced sum insured. In this case, please also submit an application via our online services.
Change your payment frequency and pay your premiums monthly instead of annually. This way you spread the costs throughout the year. Please note that you need to submit an application for this. The easiest way to do so is via our online services.
You can withdraw part of your accumulated capital in advance, for example if you want to buy a property. Your contract will remain in place, only your balance will be reduced accordingly. You can use your life insurance as collateral if you need money at short notice. This applies to life insurance policies under the unrestricted pension scheme, i.e. pillar 3b. If you take out a loan, your life insurance will serve as security for that loan. You pay a fixed interest rate on the loan, which you can find in the list of current interest rates. In this case, you do not need to cancel your life insurance policy and your insurance cover remains unchanged. In the case of life insurance, cancellation is also known as surrendering. Your request for surrender will take effect as soon as we receive it. We normally pay out the surrender value (provided your policy has one) within 30 days of receiving all of the necessary documents and information. We need to wait for the latest fund prices, for example, before we are able to make the payment.
Important: If your insurance policy has been pledged, the pledgee’s written consent is required. Otherwise the cancellation will not be valid and we will not be able to pay out the surrender value.
When a life insurance policy is cancelled, the surrender value is paid out. Whether or not your policy has a surrender value depends on your life insurance. Once you have submitted your notice of cancellation, we will check whether your insurance has a surrender value and make any corresponding payment.
