From the construction site to the office.

How Moreno successfully made his way to become head of agency.

From working as a mechanic on a construction site to head of agency at Generali – Moreno Del Tufo has found his calling. As a manager, he now supports his team of experienced and prospective insurance consultants.

Moreno, how did you switch from construction to insurance consultancy?

I was a mechanic. It’s a tough, physically demanding job. The work wasn’t just dangerous: one colleague had already been struggling with back problems and another suffered a serious injury to his hand. In addition, the job offered few prospects for long-term development. It became clear to me that I didn’t want to do this job until I retired. My uncle was already working in insurance and he got me interested. So I took a risk and decided to switch to a different career.

How was it settling in?

I started at another insurance company and completed my training as an insurance consultant. After around four years, I wanted to take on more responsibility and develop professionally. I switched to Generali and knew right away that it was a good move.

What does Generali offer that you were missing before?

Above all, making an active contribution. At Generali, your opinion matters – including among managers. Ideas are taken on board and responsibilities are delegated. That’s motivating. It wasn’t long before I started having some success, and I regularly ranked among the ten most successful insurance consultants in Switzerland. The processes and systems are also professionally organised. For example, the customer management system works really well, which saves time and gives us quick access to important customer information. This allows us to focus fully on our customers.

Now you run an agency – how did that come about?

At Generali I flourished and experienced the best years of my career so far. I made it clear from the start that I wanted to develop further. Generali has consistently supported me in this. I was able to take on projects, give presentations and lead team meetings. At the same time, I completed my apprenticeship to become a qualified insurance economist – also with support from Generali. Now I run the Generali agency in Rapperswil. My goal is to build a stable team in which trust and cohesion count.

From the very beginning, I made it clear that I wanted to develop further. Generali has consistently supported me in this.

What does it take to be successful in a sales job?

The right attitude. If you’re willing to go the extra mile, you’ll get a lot in return: trust, freedom and motivation. Customers can feel that, too.

How do you lead your team?

I’m open and approachable. My door is always open. If anyone needs help, I’m here. In our industry, trust counts. That’s true both internally and customer-facing.

What motivates you today?

I want to make a difference – for myself, for my team and for our customers. I love what I do and see how valuable this profession is every day. Each day brings new encounters, new solutions and new energy.
